Tranquil nest at the seaside

Framed by the setting of majestic Monte Cofano and the lush green plain of Macari, the 'suburb' of San Vito Lo Capo, holiday apartment Il Giuccu lies about 700 m from the sea and the beach in the district of Castelluzzo.  

The holiday apartment is conveniently located not only because it is close to the beaches of Macari and to nature reserve Monte Cofano, but also because historically significant sites of northwestern Sicily, for example the medieval town of Erice and the temples of Segesta, are easy to reach.

The lovely holiday apartment

Il Giuccu, giuccu is Sicilian dialect for "bird’s nest", can in short be described as "small, but lovely" and is an ideal accommodation for a couple.

It includes a comfortable live-and-eat-in kitchen (incl. 4-burner gas stove, microwave, refrigerator with freezer compartment) with fireplace and SAT-TV, a bedroom with four-poster double bed and a bathroom (shower/WC/bidet).

The additional sleeping facility in the living area is suitable for a child. WiFi and air conditioning with heating device are available and can be used for an extra charge.

Wonderful outdoor area

From the apartment's terrace with cozy rattan furniture to relax on, you can let your gaze drift across the trees towards the sea and in the evenings enjoy the spectacle of the setting sun.

There's an outdoor grill to prepare your fish, meat and/or vegetables on and an outdoor shower in the garden to cool off under in between. 

A 3,500 m² fenced property is home to olive and fig trees, but there are also all kinds of fragrant herbs, some of which might flavor many of your dishes.

Giuseppe, owner of the house Il Giuccu is located in, produces his own, 100% organic olive oil, which he proudly told us about when we were on site. He stays in the other part of the house with his family mainly at the weekends and takes care of welcoming the guests of his holiday apartment.

Surrounding area

For a swim in the sea you can stop at the shingle and sandy bays ca. 700 m from Il Giuccu. Shopping can be done at Castelluzzo (ca. 1.5 km). To get there, either by bike or by car, you need only follow the coastal road behind the house.

Many other stores as well as bars and restaurants and a terrific, fine sandy beach are found at San Vito Lo Capo (ca. 5 km).

Tips for excursions

For hiking tours through authentic nature, Monte Cofano is a great place to go, but so is nature reserve Riserva dello Zingaro.

From San Vito lo Capo as the starting point, it takes you about three hours to traverse Riserva dello Zingaro; in between, stop at the small bays for a swim in the sea or to go snorkeling and explore the rich underwater world.
