Villa Gialla - Holiday home with (shared) pool near Syracuse

On Isola di Siracusa, the small peninsula south of Syracuse, and only 700 m from the sea, Mediterannean-style Villa Gialla sits enthroned on a 20,000 m² property with communal pool. 

Given its location on a rise, you have got a simply unique view across the hilly peninsula and of the sea hugging its shores. Syracuse, so rich in history, and its Baroque Old Town of Ortigia are only a few kilometers off.

A tasteful holiday home

Apart from Villa Gialla, there are several other holiday accommodations on the rambling premises, as well as the owner's residence and a pool for shared use. Villa Gialla lies somewhat apart, above the pool.

Ground floor

Via the terrace you enter Villa Gialla into the open-plan living-dining area with comfortable sofas, TV and solid wooden dining furniture.

The kitchen (incl. gas stove, oven, refrigerator with freezer compartment) and one of the villa's two bathrooms (shower/WC/bidet) are also found on the ground floor.  

The terrace is furnished with seating accommodations, a lounger and a sunshade.

1st floor

The second bathroom (bathtub/WC/bidet) and the two bedrooms (double bed, wardrobe, mosquito screens each), are located on the 1st floor. Sleeping facility for a 5th person is a pull-out sofa in one of the bedrooms.

The upper floor offers access of the sea view balcony with seating accommodations.

Furnishing of Villa Gialla includes central heating, air conditioning and washing machine.
WIFI is available in the communal area of the B&B, ca. 50 m below the holiday home.

Parking: You can park your car on the fenced premises.

A pool for shared use

The large pool area with seating accommodations and loungers is shared by all the guests staying on the premises. The pool (length 18 m) is usually open from mid-May to October. 

Please note: Extreme weather conditions, for example heat waves, and water shortages can cause the vegetation on the property to suffer and to be drier than shown in the pictures.

Surroundings

The sea and restaurants are ca. 700 m, shopping facilities ca. 1 km from Villa Gialla. The nearest sandy beach with parking facilities and small bar is 1.6 km, a boat rental 1 km off.

Delicious dishes of fresh fish are served at "Ostrica Park" (700 m) and "Il Circolo" (1 km), two seaside restaurants we can recommend.

For your journey to Sicily: Catania airport is about an hour's drive north of Syracuse.

Destinations for excursions

Syracuse - In ancient times it counted among the most powerful towns of the world then known. Cicero even called it the most beautiful and greatest of all Greek towns.
Villa Gialla is not far from Syracuse (ca. 7 km) and its gorgeous Old Town with countless monuments, the majestic cathedral and a millennia old history.

Not too far off either: nature reserve Fiume Ciane e Saline di Siracusa (ca. 6 km to the north) and the long sandy beach of Fontane Bianche (ca. 15 km to the south).

And if you don't mind going a bit further:
About 30 - 40 km southwards lie the Baroque towns of Avola and Noto and the nature reserve Oasi di Vendicari, which is known as a place of rest for migratory birds, where you can go hiking and relax at marvelous beaches.

Northwards and in the hinterland of Syracuse, the UNESCO World Heritage listed necropolis of Pantálica with its 5,000 tomb caves and the deep gorge of the Anapo river await you at Riserva naturale orientata Pantalica, Valle dell'Anapo e Torrente Cava Grande.
